Booking A Kid's Birthday Party Room? 3 Things To Make Sure You Have

Posted on: 25 July 2019

Kid's birthday party rooms are offered at restaurants across the country, creating a convenient space for your child to enjoy their favorite foods, best friends, and a gift-opening session without the watchful eyes of fellow restaurant patrons. However, not all birthday party rooms are created equal, and it is important to carefully consider the perks of the space beforehand. Here are three things to make sure you have in a children's birthday party room, and why it will matter on your event day.

1.    Enough Space for Everyone: Sometimes when parents are planning a child's party, they take a "more is always better" approach to sending out invitations. Since it is every parent's worst nightmare to throw a party and not have enough children come to celebrate your little one, you may be tempted to invite more people than your birthday party room will hold—assuming some children won't be able to come.

However, if all of the kids you invite do come and the space isn't large enough, you might be out of luck. Since birthday party rooms have capacity limits because they are in public spaces governed by fire laws, you should be keenly aware of how many kids can sit comfortably around that table.

Talk with restaurant management about how many kids can comfortably, legally, and safely fit into the space before sending out invitations, and ask parents to RSVP so you have an accurate idea of what to expect on the party day.

2.    Easy Access to Bathrooms: Close, convenient access to bathrooms is crucial, especially when you are hosting young kids who may or may not have recently been potty trained. Because kids who are new to going to the bathroom on their own may not be familiar with the "earlier is always better" concept, you might end up needing a bathroom quickly for someone during the party.

Check with the restaurant to see where the restrooms are in comparison with the kid's birthday party room, and time how long it takes to talk there and access a stall on a day when the restaurant is busy.

3.    Permission for Decorations: If you want to hang a birthday sign or bring in balloons, ask if there are any decoration rules when it comes to decorating the birthday party space. Talk with management to see if there are guidelines you need to abide by, and bring the appropriate non-damaging fasteners on the day of the event.

After you check off all of your birthday party room must-have items, make sure to book the space and pay your deposit as soon as possible so you so aren't left without a great place to throw your party. With careful planning, you can streamline your child's special event, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
